Announcement
Job Announcement Text:

The Carnegie Theoretical Astrophysics Center (CTAC) and the Caltech Theoretical Astrophysics group invite applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in theoretical astrophysics, to begin September 2023. The Fellow will split their time between the Carnegie Observatories in Pasadena, and Caltech's Cahill Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics. The Theory Fellow is expected to carry out original research in any area of astrophysics, either independently or in collaboration with staff, faculty or students at the host institutions. The principal selection criteria will be outstanding research accomplishments and promise of future achievement. Preference will be given to researchers working in areas in which Caltech and Carnegie have active and overlapping interests.

The fellowship provides ample support for travel, personal computing, and publications. Computational facilities at each institution will be accessible for the entire duration of the fellowship. We strive to enable scientifically excellent, equitable, and inclusive environments, and therefore aim for a diverse group of scientists to collaborate and thrive. Candidates from historically under-represented groups and backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Applicants must submit an application to BOTH the Observatories (deadline Nov 1 for both joint and Carnegie-only applications) and to Caltech (deadline Nov 1 for joint applications, Nov 15 for Caltech-only applications) via the web at http://www.obs.carnegiescience.edu/fellowships/ AND https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/22241 and abide by the application procedures/deadlines described therein. Be sure to click the appropriate checkbox on the application website of each institution to show that you wish to be considered for the joint fellowship, as well as each institution's separate fellowships. Selection of the successful candidate will be made by a joint Carnegie-Caltech committee. A PhD in Astronomy or a related field is required.

Both Carnegie and Caltech are equal opportunity employers and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
