Job Description
The Star and Planet Formation group in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Rice University seeks to hire one or more postdoctoral researchers. Successful candidates will work with Prof. Andrea Isella and/or Prof. Megan Reiter. Ongoing research activities include sub-mm, mm, and cm wave observations of proto-planetary disks, and infrared and optical surveys of young stellar objects and their planet-forming disks in high-mass star-forming regions. Theoretically/numerically oriented candidates are particularly invited to apply. Candidates with previous experience in millimeter interferometry, high-contrast infrared imaging, and integral field-unit spectroscopy are also encouraged to apply.
Rice University hosts a small but vibrant research program aimed to study the origins of stars and planets. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to interact with Profs. Patrick Hartigan, Christopher M. Johns-Krull, and Andre Izidoro.
A Ph.D. degree in astronomy, physics, or a related subject by the appointment start is required. The position is initially for one year, with a possibility of re-appointment for two additional years depending on performance assessment and funding availability . The appointment is expected to start no later than October 2024.
