Job Description

The MIT Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in 21cm cosmology.  The successful applicant will work with Professor Jacqueline Hewitt and will have the opportunity to play a leading role in research with the Hydrogen Epoch of Reionization Array (HERA;  see reionization.org).   Opportunities exist for being involved in commissioning the HERA array during buildout, data acquisition and analysis, and the interpretation of data within a framework of theoretical predictions of heating and reionization of the intergalactic medium at high redshift.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in physics, astronomy or closely related field, preferably with a background in radio astronomy or cosmology.  Those with strong backgrounds in computing, radio-frequency techniques, and data analysis are especially encouraged to apply.  The position will be for two years, with one additional year contingent upon performance.

Interested candidates are asked to submit a curriculum vitae and brief (< 2 page) statement of research interests to the above address.  Applicants should also arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to the same address.

Applications received by January 20, 2017, will receive full consideration.
