We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow with interest in understanding the role of active galactic nuclei in the evolution of galaxies and clusters of galaxies, and expertise in supermassive black holes, active galactic nuclei, large scale structures, galaxy evolution, or a combination of these topics.
The successful candidate will work closely with Prof. Colin Norman, Dr. Marco Chiaberge, their group at the Physics and Astronomy Department of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, and their collaborators in the HST-3C project.
The successful candidate is expected to specifically focus on leading the scientific exploitation of data obtained with a medium-size Hubble Space Telescope program that imaged a sample of 42 moderately high redshift (z>1) radio galaxies and quasars in the “bright ages” of galaxy evolution. Collaboration on other projects our group is currently focusing on will also be possible.
