IASTU is a research institute dedicated to theoretical studies of fundamental science. THCA has 14 faculty members with research interests in diverse areas. Both institutions have a vibrant academic environment with ~100 annual visitors from world-wide institutions.
Successful candidates will work in collaboration with Professor Xuening Bai on topics of mutual interest, including disks and planet formation, as well as high-energy/plasma astrophysics, and are encouraged to carry out independent research. They will be hosted at the IASTU, and are jointly as THCA members. They will also have access to advanced computational facilities at different scales from the University to national supercomputing centers.
Applicants must have a PhD in physics, astronomy, planetary science or a related field by the time of appointment. The appointment is initially for two years, and is renewable for a third year contingent upon performance and funding. Successful candidates will be offered competitive salary compensation and subsidized housing accommodation. The starting date is negotiable but is expected to be no later than October 1st, 2018.
