Job Description

A 2-year Postdoc position is currently available in the new Laboratory of Exoplanets Imaging and Adaptive Optics (LEIAO) of the University of Bern. The successful candidate will work on novel instrumentation techniques for exoplanets high-contrast imaging. She/he will be fully integrated within the vibrant Bernese space and planetary sciences environment, and as full member of the Swiss research network on exoplanets (www.nccr-planets.ch).

Start date: April 1st, 2023 (can be slightly shifted upon request, within reason)

Duration: 2-years (option for 3rd year)

Salary: Starting at 88,000 CHF/year gross salary, commensurate with experience, with 5-week paid holidays per year. Childcare allowance is available.

Requirements: A PhD degree in Physics, Astrophysics or Engineering (with specialization in astronomical instrumentation or adaptive optics), within the last 5 years.

Prior experience in astronomical instrumentation, observational astronomy, Python programming or benchtop optics is a plus.
