Postdoctoral Fellow: FAST and Parkes synergies for pulsar and spectral line observations
Job Summary
Job Description
CSIRO Astronomy & Space Science (CASS) is looking for an enthusiastic Postdoctoral Fellow to join the vibrant and diverse CASS Astrophysics Group who will work with the Parkes telescope in Australia and the FAST telescope in China. The Fellow will work closely with Dr G. Hobbs in Australia and Prof Di Li in China. The FAST telescope officially opened in September 2016. Its main science drivers include surveying the sky for pulsars and neutral hydrogen (HI). The Parkes telescope has a history of successful surveys and so we wish to employ a postdoctoral research fellow who can support the surveys at both telescopes, help commission the FAST observing system and processing pipelines and ensure that the Parkes telescope is used for productive follow-up observations of FAST discoveries. We are looking for someone willing to spend significant time in both Australia and in China, is capable of ensuring the success of the surveys and publishing the results. The postdoctoral fellow will be a CSIRO employee and based in Sydney, Australia.
The postdoctoral position is initially for two years, but may be extended to three if funding becomes available. Applicants should follow the link to the CSIRO recruitment pages.
