Tycho Brahe Exoplanet Fellowship
Job Summary
Job Description
DTU Space (the National Space Institute at the Technical University of Denmark) invites applications for a 3+1 year postdoctoral fellowship in the area of exoplanet atmospheres to work with Prof. Lars A. Buchhave and Assistant Prof. João Mendonça. The exoplanet research group at DTU Space focuses on understanding and characterizing exoplanets with emphasis on the abundant small planets through two key areas of research: 1) precise mass measurements of small (often transiting) planets to understand their composition and structure and 2) observation, characterization and modelling of exoplanetary atmospheres to advance our insight into their diversity and composition. The present exoplanet group is rapidly growing, and is currently composed of six members.
The new fellow is expected to be an independent postdoctoral researcher within 6 years of obtaining his/her PhD, and should have research experience in the field of exoplanet atmospheres. The applicant is expected to conduct his/her own independent research, increase the group’s observational expertise and to collaborate in the comparison between model predictions and observations with current and future observational facilities (e.g., ARIEL, TESS, HARPS-N, EXPRES, NOT, JWST, ELT). The annual salary is approximately 498,000 DKK (~76,000 USD) including pension.
Shortlisted candidates will be informed late January 2019 and will be invited to an interview. We expect to extend formal offers late February/early March 2019. All interested candidates irrespective of age, gender, disability, race, religion or ethnic background are encouraged to apply.
Application deadline: 15 December 2018
