Job Description

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Missouri (MU) in Columbia anticipates filling a faculty position in Astrophysics at the tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor rank with competitive salary and start-up funds beginning Fall 2017. Our department has strong research programs on the interstellar medium, galaxy formation and evolution, general relativity, and cosmology. MU recently joined the WIYN Consortium, which gives us guaranteed access to the WIYN 3.5m telescope. 

Candidates in the area of observational astronomy are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate, together with our existing Astrophysics faculty, is expected to take an interest in building upon our established relationship with our partner institution, University of the Western Cape, South Africa in radio astronomy research. Access to observational facilities is possible through an adjunct faculty Array.

The successful candidate is expected to join in all activities of the department including carrying out a vigorous, original and externally funded research program involving graduate students, and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
