We invite applications for a postdoctoral/ scientific software developer position funded by the ERC Consolidator Grant DEMOBLACK led by Dr. Michela Mapelli. The DEMOBLACK team will investigate the formation channels of merging stellar black hole binaries in the field and in star clusters, by means of population synthesis and dynamical simulations.
The successful candidate will contribute to the development and maintenance of our population-synthesis code SEVN (written in C++) and to the development of software for direct N-body simulations. We are looking for applicants with excellent knowledge of C++ and python. Experience with GPU programming (CUDA or OpenCL) and parallel programming will be an advantage.

The earliest possible starting date is September 2018, but later dates are also possible. Applicants must have a Master's degree in Computer Science, Astrophysics, Physics or related disciplines. The appointment is for 2 years, with a possible extension up to 5 years depending on performance. Gross salaries range approximately from 24000 to 50000 EUR/year, depending on experience, more than adequate for local costs of living.
