The Department of Physics, Geosciences, and Astronomy at Eastern Kentucky University seeks a qualified colleague at the assistant professor level to contribute to our BS Physics program, which includes concentrations in engineering physics, general physics, and physics teaching. We are looking for an individual who will serve as a source of inspiration and mentorship for a diverse student body. . The successful candidate will teach an average of 12 hours per semester, include and engage undergraduate students in an active research program, and contribute to departmental service work. This is a tenure-track position beginning in August 2024. PhD in Physics, Astronomy, or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment. Teaching duties may include a combination of core physics courses, physics and astronomy service and general education courses, pre-engineering courses, and upper-level electives. All introductory physics and astronomy courses at EKU are inquiry-based and taught in a studio-style classroom setting. We seek a colleague with academic training and practical experience that complements the department's expertise and resources; modest startup funds are available.
