Research Fellows, Center for the Gravitational-Wave Universe
Job Summary
Job Description
The Research Center for Gravitational-Wave Universe (GWUniverse) invites applications for multiple positions on the areas specified below.
The GWUniverse aims to promote multi-messenger astronomy with a new facility called 7DT (7-dimensional telescope) which is composed of a large number (~20) of 50-cm telescope equipped with imaging cameras and 40 medium-band filters in order to obtain low resolution of spectra for all objects in the field.
The location of the works could depend on the collaborating senior members: Seoul National University (Hyung Mok Lee [[email protected]], Myungshin Im [[email protected]]), KASI in Daejeon (Lucas Uhm [[email protected]], Arman Shafieloo [[email protected]]), Ewha Womans University in Seoul (Chunglee Kim [[email protected]] ), or POSTECH in Pohang (Jae-Hun Jung [[email protected]]).
The preferred areas of research of the candidates include (Senior members in parentheses)
- Gravitational wave physics and data analyses (Hyung Mok Lee, Chunglee Kim)
- Testing of cosmological models (Arman Shafieloo)
- Modeling of gamma-ray bursts and kilonovae (Lucas Uhm)
- Construction of the 7DT, data acquisition and analysis (Myungshin Im)
- Application of artificial intelligence for massive time-domain data (Jae-Hun Jung)
The positions will be for 2 years, renewable upon mutual agreement and availability of funds. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in astronomy, physics, or a related field by the date of the appointment.
The position will remain available until filled. Candidates should provide a cover letter, Curriculum Vita including publications list, statements of technical and research interests, and contact information for three references to:
