Job Description

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Texas Tech University invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher in gravitational -wave data analysis as part of the astrophysics research group at Texas Tech.   The position is for a period of 2 years, with a start date of September 1, 2019. The successful candidate will work primarily with faulty member, Joe Romano, on topics related to the detection of gravitational waves, relevant for ground-based interferometers (such as LIGO AND Virgo), pulsar timing arrays (such as NANOGrav), and/or the proposed space-based interferometer LISA. The astrophysics group at Texas Tech includes faculty Alessandra Corsi, Tom Maccarone, Benjamin Owen, Joe Romano and Simone Scaringi, as well as several students and postdocs. The group is active in the areas of gravitational-wave physics (as part of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration and NANOGrav Pulsar Timing Array Consortium), extreme and explosive astrophysics, and stellar populations in nearby galaxies.
