Job Description

The Department of Physics invites applications for a postdoctoral position in observational and computational cosmology to work with Dr. Jens Jasche on the study of cosmic large-scale structures with cosmological surveys such as LSST and other datasets.

The successful applicant will conduct original research in the field of dynamical structure and galaxy formation, measuring cosmological parameters and determining the nature of dark matter and dark energy with next-generation surveys. Opportunities will be available to develop and apply novel statistical analysis and machine learning techniques, to carry out numerical simulations and perform theoretical modelling. The successful applicant will also have the opportunity to collaborate with the Aquila consortium (www.aquila-consortium.org) which aims at exploiting novel data science methods to facilitate new discoveries in the emerging field of fully nonlinear cosmic large-scale structure reconstructions.

Stockholm University has a world-class research group in cosmology at the Oskar Klein Centre for Cosmoparticle Physics (www.okc.albanova.se) with this particular position focusing on our involvement in the LSST. Postdoctoral associates are welcome to participate in Scientific Programs at Nordita, the Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics, which bring together groups of leading experts to work on specific topics for extended periods.

The position involves full-time employment for a maximum of two years, with the possibility of extension for another year. Start date 2019-09-01 or as per agreement.
