Job Description

High Energy Physics Division at Argonne National Laboratory invites applications for two postdoctoral research positions in the experimental cosmology group. Our group focuses on studies of the cosmic microwave background as part of the South Pole Telescope collaboration, including developing state-of-the-art instrumentation and data analysis for cosmological studies. Successful applicants will have opportunities for leadership roles in the analysis of data from the SPT-3G receiver on the South Pole Telescope, as well as in technology development for future CMB experiments (including CMB-S4). They will have access to multiple test and fabrication facilities, the latter involving close collaboration with the Materials Science Division and the Center for Nanoscale Materials, as well as the opportunity to collaborate closely with the computational cosmology group. Interactions with other groups in the High Energy Physics division, Fermilab, and the University of Chicago are highly encouraged.

Applicant should have a Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or a closely related field before the position begins. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled. Please submit a cover letter, research statement, CV, and three letters of recommendation to [email protected] Short-listed applicants will be asked to also complete the form at https://www.anl.gov/hr/postdoctoral-applicants (job ID #404667).
