Post-doctoral Position at Universidad de los Andes, Colombia

The Astronomy group at the Universidad de los Andes, Colombia, invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the Be stars area. The position is open from July 2017 and is initially for one year, with an option to be extended to up one more year. Knowledge of English and/or Spanish is desirable. Salary and benefits are commensurate with international standards. The successful applicant is expected to teach a General Physics course each semester.

The Astronomy group is part of the Physics Department at the Universidad de los Andes, which is one of the leading universities in Colombia. The group  includes four professors in the areas of stellar variability, cosmology and spectroscopy.   The successful applicant  is expected to closely work with Dr. Beatriz Sabogal,  in observational or theoretical studies of Galactic or extragalactic Be stars.  Information can be obtained directly from professor Sabogal ([email protected]).

Candidates must have a PhD in astronomy, physics or related fields, and  should submit by 30 April 2017, in PDF files, a cover letter, a CV, and a statement of the proposed research, and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent directly to Dr.  Sabogal.
