Job Description

The McWilliams Center for Cosmology at Carnegie Mellon University invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in galactic archaeology with Dr. Sergey Koposov. The postdoc will join the research group and is expected to be interested in exploiting existing and upcoming large astrometric/photometric/spectroscopic datasets such as Gaia, SDSS, VST, DES, DECaLS, LSST, DESI to learn about the Milky Way structure, potential, accretion history, dwarf galaxies around it and stellar streams. The successful candidate is also encouraged to collaborate with other members of the McWilliams Center, including other Physics faculty, postdocs and graduate students, and members of the Departments of Computer Science and Statistics at CMU. Carnegie Mellon is a full institutional member of SDSS-IV and LSST.

The initial appointment is for two years, renewable up to three years, contingent upon satisfactory progress. We provide a competitive salary and benefits.
