We invite applications for two postdoctoral research appointments that are related to short gamma-ray bursts, mergers of double neutron stars, kilonovae and related phenomena. The projects will be supported by the School of Physics and Technology, Wuhan University. The Center for Astrophysics in Wuhan University has 6 faculties now, the main science interests are high energy astrophysics, electromagnetic counterparts of gravitational waves. The successful applicant will work together with Prof Wei Wang at Wuhan University and Prof. Zigao Dai at Wuhan University and Nanjing University to study the progenitors of short gamma-ray bursts, the models of the afterglows and kilonovae, the physical origin of fast radio bursts, and multi-wavelength studies of the EM counterparts of gravitational wave events with collaborations with the National Astronomical Observatories of China and Tsing Hua University. The appointment will be for two years, renewable for one more year subject to a performance evaluation.
Ph.D. in astronomy, physics, or related fields, completed or expected by the effective date, and a demonstrated record of research excellence. The fellowship is open to highly qualified researchers of all nationalities who received their PhD no more than three years prior to the deadlines of the corresponding applications.
