The Waterloo Centre for Astrophysics (WCA) at the University of Waterloo invites applications for six postdoctoral positions of up to 3 years each. First, we are looking to hire two WCA Postdoctoral Fellows, positions open to researchers in any area in astrophysics to conduct independent research. We are also hiring candidates to collaborate with Prof Afshordi’s group on theoretical Astrophysics, broadly defined, and to work with Prof Mike Hudson on the Euclid project. We are additionally looking for two researchers interested in working on the Euclid or DESI surveys with Prof Will Percival.
The WCA (https://uwaterloo.ca/astrophysics-centre/) consists of 14 research-active faculty members with active visitor and meeting programs. Research is undertaken in several areas including cosmology, large-scale structure, CMB, gravitational lensing, black holes, gravitational wave astronomy, galactic dynamics, galaxies, clusters, quasars and sub-mm astronomy, with membership of a number of ongoing and future experiments including DESI, EHT, Euclid, FYST/CCATp, Rubin/LSST and UNIONS. The group has a close connection to the Perimeter Institute, which is located just a short walk away.
A competitive salary and research allowance will be provided, and researchers will be able to access additional funding for visitors and hosting meetings. Candidates should apply through Academic Jobs Online: https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/23021. Only one application is required for all positions.
Candidates with interests in theoretical astrophysics are also encouraged to apply for a CITA National Fellowship to bring to Waterloo (https://jobregister.aas.org/ad/b6b7a598, deadline Nov 7).
