Postdoctoral Positions in Astrophysics at the University of Iowa
Applications are invited for two postdoctoral positions in UV and X-ray astrophysics at the University of Iowa. One position, under the supervision of Prof. Keri Hoadley <[email protected]>, is for work in UV astrophysics on topics including the circumgalactic and intergalactic media, star formation, and binary star mergers. The successful candidate will contribute to the UV technology development program at Iowa. Experience working with astronomical instruments and/or technology is preferred, but prior experience is not required. The other position, under the supervision of Prof. Philip Kaaret <[email protected]>, is for work on the analysis of X-ray observations of the hot halo of the Milky Way and of ultraluminous X-ray sources. The position may also include work on data archiving for HaloSat and on development of instrumentation for high energy astrophysics and Earth observation. Iowa City is often ranked as one of the safest, healthiest, and most livable, educated, connected, and economically viable cities in the United States. Iowa City hosts a variety of cultural, artistic, and sporting events year round and is the first UNESCO City of Literature in the U.S.
