Galaxies in clusters: the radio and X-ray view

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral Position in “Galaxies in clusters: the radio and X-ray view” to be held at the Padova Observatory of the National Institute of Astrophysics (INAF) (Post doc position - D.D. 79/2021).

The position is funded by the European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant n. 833824.

The successful applicant will work in the extragalactic group in Padova and join the international GASP team (GAs Stripping Phenomena in galaxies, http://web.oapd.inaf.it/gasp/) using X-ray and radio observations from a recently approved Chandra Large Program and a LOFAR Survey key project at 100-200 MHz. These data, combined with a multi-wavelength dataset, will allow to study the physical processes that remove gas from galaxies in different environments and their consequences for galaxy evolution.

The position is offered for 2 years, renewable for another year, with anticipated starting date from May 2022 onward, negotiable. The annual salary is 38.000 euro. A research and travel budget is available, health and work insurance are included.

Applicants should have a PhD in physics, astronomy or related subject by the deadline for applications, or at least 3 years of research after the Master Degree.
