Job Description

Purple Mountain Observatory (PMO) is seeking to fill one faculty position in the areas related to the observation of space debris. PMO is in charge of an observing network for space debris which generates a huge amount of time series observing data both in terms of position and brightness. A couple of projects with big instruments will also be launched in near future. We are seeking for faculty members who can perform deep data mining on debris collision warning, astronomical dynamics, atmospheric model, space environment, observation image analysis, observational astrophysics, and so on, based on the data from our observing network. Candidate(s) who have strong background on optical astronomical observation and time-domain astronomy are highly recommended to apply for the position as well.

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. degree and have a demonstrated record of outstanding research, along with a strong commitment to involve graduate students in research (no teaching commitment is required). Active researchers of all nationalities are encouraged to apply. The salary and start-up grant will be highly competitive.
