We invite applications for postdoctoral researchers in Extragalactic Astrophysics: SU FV-3410-20.
The position is available from fall 2021. It is available for two years, with a possible one year extension contingent upon performance. Earlier starting is negotiable. Closing date: 15 Jan, 2021.
The position will concern observational extragalactic astronomy, in the group of Associate Professor Matthew Hayes, and will focus upon galaxy evolution at high-redshift and in the reionization epoch. We are searching for highly qualified scientists to exploit data from a recently awarded Large Programme at ESO/VLT. Demonstrable experience of working with fiber-fed multi-object spectrographs is a strong advantage, and knowledge of galaxy evolution, starbursts, reionization physics, and/or Lyman-alpha emission would be preferred. Interested parties are encouraged to get in touch by email.
The applicant must have a PhD (or equivalent) in Astrophysics or a related field. Stockholm University strives to be a workplace free from discrimination, with equal opportunities. The department consists of 15 faculty staff, ~20 senior researchers and postdocs, and ~25 PhD students, and the group is closely affiliated with the Oskar Klein Centre for Cosmoparticle Physics. Stockholm is the capital of Sweden and has an international character – most researchers have an international background and English is commonly used both at the department and in daily life.
To apply for this position, please use the Stockholm University web-based application form in English. The application should comprise, in PDF format: a cover letter (1 page), a CV, and a statement of relevant scientific expertise/proposed project (max 3 pages). The applicant should ensure that three reference letters are submitted by email to fv-3410-20.refletters@astro.su.se by the closing date.
