Job Description

We invite applications for a PhD scholarship in plasma astrophysics/astrophysical magnetic field/astroparticle physics. The successful applicant will join the research group led by Prof. Huirong Yan at  Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY) and University of Potsdam working on various topics involving turbulence, cosmic rays and magnetic field. The starting date can be as early as Feb. 1st, 2020. The position is for three years and is expected to lead to PhD degree at the Uni Potsdam.

As one of Germany’s largest research centres, DESY carries out fundamental research in various areas including astroparticle physics. The Institute for Physics & Astronomy at U Potsdam supports a broad range of research in observational and theoretical astrophysics. It has close links with AIP, and Albert Eisnstein Institute in addition to DESY that sponsors the PhD fellowship.

Candidates with Master degree in physics or astrophysics can directly apply. Applicants with only bachelor’s degree should first apply to the international master program at University of Potsdam before joining the group.
