Trust Fund (Non-Federal), Temporary Not To Exceed Two Years, with the Possibility of a One Year Extension

The Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO, part of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship to work with Dr. Belinda Wilkes within the High Energy Astrophysics Division. The incumbent will conduct research on active galactic nuclei (AGN), with emphasis on the high-redshift  3CR radio sample, using data from the Chandra X-ray Observatory and other, multi-wavelength observatories and archives. The incumbent will work with Dr. Wilkes, Dr. Joanna Kuraszkiewicz and other members of their large, international 3CR collaboration, on proposals for new data (e.g. JWST, ALMA, Chandra, NuSTAR), analysis and modeling of the spectral energy distributions,  morphology, spectra and other properties, to study their nuclear orientation,  obscuration, multi-wavelength extended structure including radio jets, environment, environmental interaction and evolution, star-formation properties, and to make comparisons with radio-quiet AGN populations.
We will only accept applications on line for this position.
