The Department of Astrophysics at The Weizmann Institute of Science has three opening for a Postdoctoral Scholars to work with Prof. Eran Ofek and/or Dr. Barak Zackay on one of the following topics related to time domain astrophysics and algorithms:
(i) Fast transients and gravitational events followup using the Large Array Survey Telescope (LAST).
(ii) A search for km-sized Trans Neptonian Objects via occultations, and a search for second-time-scale transients using the W-FAST system.
(iii) A search for lensed quasars and measuring their time delays using seeing-limited synoptic observations.
(iv) Development of algorithms for a synergic search for binary neutron star mergers in both gravitational wave and gamma-ray data.
(v) Developing novel methods to detect gamma-ray pulsars in the Fermi-LAT data.
(VI) Development of algorithms for speckle imaging and high contrast imaging
A PhD in Physics, Astronomy, or a closely related field is required.
