The Waterloo Centre for Astrophysics (WCA) at the University of Waterloo invites applications for two 3-year WCA Postdoctoral Fellowships. The recently formed Centre consists of 13 research-active faculty members, and will have active visitor and meeting programs. Research is undertaken in several areas including cosmology, large-scale structure, CMB, gravitational lensing, black holes, galaxies, clusters, quasars and sub-mm astronomy, with interests in a number of future experiments including Euclid, CCATp, CFIS, DESI and LSST (https://uwaterloo.ca/astrophysics-and-gravitation). The group has a close connection to the Perimeter Institute, which is located just a short walk away.
We welcome applications from excellent candidates in any field of astronomy and cosmology that would enhance the research program of the department. Starting in Sept 2019, fellows will be expected to undertake a program of original research either independently or in collaboration with others in the Centre. A competitive salary and research allowance will be provided, and fellows will be able to access additional funding for visitors and hosting meetings.
Candidates should apply by emailing a CV, bibliography, research statement, and asking three referees to send letters of recommendation to [email protected] before January 3rd, 2019. Applications who have already sent these materials to this email address in response to other astrophysics positions advertised to start in 2019 will automatically be considered and do not need to resend materials.
The University of Waterloo respects, appreciates and encourages diversity. We welcome applications from all qualified individuals including women, members of visible minorities, Aboriginal peoples and persons with disabilities.
