Job Description

Leiden Observatory invites applications for a postdoctoral research position to work on problems related to the formation and evolution of galaxies and large-scale structure.

The successful applicant will join the research group led by Joop Schaye and will become a member of an international team. Members of the group currently work on problems ranging from models of individual galaxies to large cosmological simulations.

Leiden Observatory is the oldest university astronomy department in the world, and the largest astronomy department in the Netherlands. Leiden is a charming university town with international flair.

The appointment will be for two years initially, but it will be renewed for a third year in case of satisfactory performance. The position comes with a competitive salary and full benefits. A starting date in September 2020 is preferred. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. by the starting date.
