Postdoctoral Researcher

The Astronomy group at the Universidad de los Andes, Colombia, invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher to work with professor Beatriz Sabogal, graduate students, and collaborators on the areas of stellar variability, Be stars and/or astrostatistics. Experience in one or more of these areas will be especially helpful.

The Astronomy group is part of the Physics Department at Universidad de los Andes, which is one of the leading universities in Colombia. More information can be obtained directly from Prof. Sabogal.

The position is initially for one year, with an option to be extended up to one additional year, depending upon performance and resources. The nominal start date for the position is January 15 2018. Knowledge of Spanish is desirable. Salary and benefits are commensurate with international standards. The successful applicant is expected to teach a General Physics course (in English or Spanish) each semester.

Candidates must have obtained a Ph.D. degree in astronomy, physics or related fields before the application deadline, which is October 5 2017.
