Multiple positions in Astrophysics and Astroinformatics

The Center of Astronomy at Universidad de Antofagasta invites applications for multiple faculty positions. We have a particular interest in extragalactic astrophysics and astroinformatics but we encourage applications from outstanding researchers in any field of astronomy. The laureates will be ambitious academics with an excellent record of leading independent investigations at the forefront of research, eager to attract external funding, enthusiastic about working with postgraduate students, and keen on developing innovative courses, in particular in our new PhD program in Astrophysics and Astroinformatics.

Antofagasta, where the Center of Astronomy is based, is a large and rapidly expanding coastal city in northern Chile on the edge of the spectacular Atacama desert. The new faculty member will join our growing team working on stars, galactic astronomy, extragalactic astronomy, and astroinformatics. They will have access to the 10% time on current and future international observatories built in Chile (ESO, Las Campanas, CTIO, Gemini, ALMA, ELT, GMT, CTA, etc.) along with full access to SDSS-V and LSST, as well as access to local and national computing facilities. The competitive salary offered at Universidad de Antofagasta is complemented by generous bonuses linked to scientific productivity.
