Job Description

The Department of Physics and Astronomy seeks an Instructor.  This is a full-time 9-month, non-tenure track appointment.  This position will teach four undergraduate courses per semester, or equivalent.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  The following examples are intended as illustrations only of the various types of duties assigned in theis position.  The absence of specific statements of duties does not exclude those tasks from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment of the position.

Teach four undergraduate courses in Physics and/or Physical Science and/or Astronomy each semester.  Engage in routine departmental, college, university, and scientific community service functions and committees.  Follow all federal, college, university, and scientific community serivice functions and committees.  Follow all federal, state, and university policies.  Maintain office hours in accordance with departmental policy.  Coordinate with graduate teaching assistants, staff, and other faculty in laboratory coordination.  Summer teaching opportunities are often available but not guaranteed.  Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:  Master's degree in Physics or a related field with a strong background in physics.  Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:  PhD in Physics or closely related field.  Teaching experience with undergraduate students.

$45,000USD to $60,000USD
