The Department of Physics at Virginia Tech seeks to hire multiple postdoctoral researchers to work with Assistant Professor Chris Ashall in the area of time domain astronomy and supernovae.  At least one of the positions will be to work with data from two successful JWST programs (2114 and 2122), and the other will be to work on high precision data of infant supernovae, using data from the Precision Observation of Supernova Explosions project (the followup program to the Carnegie Supernova Project). Postdoctoral Associates will be also be encouraged to pursue their own research lines within this area of astronomy. Members of the group will have access to many international collaborations including the extended Public ESO Spectroscopic Survey of Transient Objects (ePESSTO+), Global Supernova Project (GSP), and the Electromagnetic counterparts of gravitational wave sources at the Very Large Telescope (ENGRAVE). 

The ideal candidate will have experience with UV, optical, NIR and MIR observations or be an expert in radiation transport models. The positions are initially available for 2 years, and renewable for another year depending on performance and funds.
