The Remote Sensing Department conceives, designs, fabricates, and operates imaging and spectroscopic sensors for space object characterization and earth remote sensing. Such sensors have been deployed on the ground, in the air, and in space. Specialists work with scientists and engineers in both laboratory and field locations, to develop and operate state of the art remote sensing and astronomical instrumentation. Specialists also coordinate and participate in field collects at astronomical observatories at altitudes up to 14,000 feet. They are also responsible for maintaining operations of a laboratory and a 1-meter telescope.
