Post- Doctoral Scholar - Physics

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research position at the University of California Merced. The successful applicant will work with Prof. Anna Nierenberg on topics relating to using strong gravitational lensing to measure fundamental properties of dark matter. Of particular interest are candidates who are interested in research in one or more of the following: gravitational lensing observations and analysis, AGN emission region properties, and/or statistical inference methods including Approximate Bayesian Computing. Available resources include Hubble Space Telescope, and Keck data, and access to the MERCED shared cluster and the San Diego Super Computing Center. A fraction of the successful candidates' time is expected to be devoted to independent research. The appointment is for two years. Renewal for a third year is subject to performance and availability of funds.

Salary is based on the University of California Academic Salary Scales. This is a full-time, two-year appointment with the possibility of renewal based on availability of funding, ongoing operational needs and satisfactory performance.
