Position overview
The Advanced Instrumentation & Technology Centre (AITC) at the ANU Research School of Astronomy & Astrophysics (RSAA) requires diverse scientific and engineering teams to develop innovative state-of-the-art instrumentation for observing the distant Universe from the ground and space. Current and future projects include the Veloce precision radial velocity spectrograph for the Anglo-Australian Telescope, the GMTIFS integral field spectrograph for the Giant Magellan Telescope, the MAVIS multi-conjugate AO system for the VLT, and the Emu infrared imager for the International Space Station.
The AITC seeks an experienced Detector Engineer to play a key role in the future of its growing detector and electronics program, particularly in the area of emerging and cutting-edge infrared detector technologies. The Detector Engineer will be expected to take ownership of significant projects and workpackages relating to detector and/or electronics systems for astronomical instrumentation, ranging from the design and assembly of systems, to laboratory testing and characterization in a scientific context.
