Job Announcement Text:

UNIST (Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology) in Korea is one of premium national institutes focusing on research and education. Department of Physics of UNIST hosts Center for High Energy Astrophysics (CHEA), a research center supported by the National Research Foundation (NRF) of Korea. Current research topics of CHEA include 1) high energy phenomena in clusters of galaxies, particularly those involving shock waves, turbulence, magnetic fields, and cosmic rays and 2) the structure and evolution of compact objects such as neutron stars and black holes as well as explosive phenomena related to them (http://sirius.unist.ac.kr/SRC-CHEA/). CHEA invites applications for postdoctoral positions for the topics of high energy astrophysics and related fields to begin as early as September 1, 2020.

Postdoctoral Positions are initially offered for two years and can be extended after evaluation (pending funding). The salary will be above the level of postdoctoral fellows of Korean research institutes and commensurate with experiences. Funds for research expenses are provided. Successful candidates are expected to spend a half of their time for researches with the members of CHEA and the other half for independent researches of their own interests.

Interested persons should send a curriculum vitae including bibliography, and a statement of research interests, along with three reference letters to Prof. Dongsu Ryu (Director of Center for High Energy Astrophysics, [email protected]). Applications received by June 30, 2020 will be fully considered, but applications will continue to be accepted until the positions are filled. The positions are open to all nationalities. Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply for the position. Applicants must have a PhD in physics, astronomy, or a related field.
