The Astronomical High-resolution and High-contrast Imaging Group (AHHIG) at California State University Northridge (CSUN) has an open Postdoctoral Fellow position, with a starting date between August to October 2017. This is a 2-year position supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), with the possibility to extend to 5 years depending on the availability of founding.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will work in the CSUN group under the supervision of Professor Deqing Ren, performing a wide range of research regarding cutting-edge astronomical instrument technique developments, including the developments of a portable solar seeing profiler, solar/stellar adaptive optics, solar multi-conjugate adaptive optics (MCAO), as well as high-contrast coronagraph and polarimeter for exoplanet imaging. The fellow will also have the opportunity to use US 4-m class telescopes to perform instrument development & scientific observation.
A Ph.D. in optics or astronomical instrumentation with computer software programming skill is highly desirable. Interested applicant should contact Professor Ren directly at [email protected].
