Job Description

Post-doctoral Fellow in Radio Astronomy in the Department of Physics (Ref.: 201801143)

Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in Radio Astronomy in the Department of Physics, to commence as soon as possible for two years, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Physics or Astronomy. Experience in the analysis of radio polarization data at centimeter wavelength, in particular, reduction of VLA or ATCA data using CASA or Miriad, is desirable. Applicants who are in the process of completing a Ph.D. degree will also be considered. The appointee will work with Dr. Stephen C.Y. Ng to pursue research in radio studies of pulsar wind nebulae and supernova remnants.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.

Applicants should send a completed application form together with an up-to-date C.V., a cover letter, publication list, and a statement of research interests to Dr. Stephen Ng at [email protected]. Applicants should also arrange three recommendation letters to be sent to Dr. Ng directly by the referees. Application forms (341/1111) can be downloaded at http://www.hr.hku.hk/apptunit/form-ext.doc. Further particulars can be obtained at http://jobs.hku.hk/.  Review of applications will start as soon as possible and continue until October 31, 2018, or until the post is filled, whichever is earlier.

The University thanks applicants for their interest, but advises that only candidates shortlisted for interviews will be notified of the application result.

The University is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to equality, ethics, inclusivity, diversity and transparency
