Postdoctoral Position in Theoretical Plasma Astrophysics

The Plasma Astrophysics Theory group at the University of Colorado (CU) Boulder invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position at CIPS (Center for Integrated Plasma Studies) or JILA, nominally starting Fall 2023. We welcome applications from candidates interested in a wide range of topics in high-energy plasma astrophysics. The group is led by Profs. D. Uzdensky, M. Begelman, J. Dexter, and Dr. G. Werner. Our current interests include black hole accretion and jet physics, and particle acceleration and dynamics of relativistic magnetic reconnection and turbulence.

Our theory group spans the Physics Deparartment and the Astrophysical & Planetary Sciences (APS) Department at CU Boulder. Plasma physics research in the Physics Department is based in the Center for Integrated Plasma Studies (CIPS). The APS Department is affiliated with research centers and institutes (JILA, CASA, LASP). Our departments recognize that the effectiveness and creativity of a group is strengthened by contributions from diverse perspectives. 

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in physics or astronomy by the date of employment. Initial appointment will be for 2 years, with a possible extension up to 3 years, depending on performance and funding.
