Postdoctoral Research Associate in Experimental / Observational Cosmology
Job Summary
Job Description
Postdoctoral Research Associate in Experimental / Observational Cosmology
This 3 year vacancy, available from September 2017, is an opportunity to join the cosmology group at The Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics (JBCA) in Manchester. The University of Manchester hosts one of the largest astrophysics groups in the UK, with major involvements in theoretical and experimental Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) studies.
We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate who is an expert in CMB foreground modelling, CMB data analysis and simulation pipeline developments, to work with our team to study different experimental concepts that could allow detecting CMB spectral distortions in the presence of real-world limitations caused by foregrounds and systematics. Synergies and complementarities with CMB anisotropy experiments will also be addressed.
You must also hold or be about to obtain a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field. Knowledge and experience in aspects of CMB foreground modelling and analysis are essential. Further particulars including a full job description and person specification are available on our website, linked below.
