Job Description

We invite applications for three postdoctoral research positions in the Computational Cosmological Group (CCG) at National Astronomical Observatories (NAOC), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

The research group has been involved in many state-of-art cosmological simulation projects (e.g. the Millennium series, Phoenix, Aquarius et al.) and large scale galaxy survey projects (SDSS IV,  CSST, Euclid, LEGUE et al). Also our group has access to big telescopes in NAOC (LAMOST, FAST) and  supercomputing  facilities in China, including two of the largest super computers in the world (Tianhe-II and TaiHu Light).

Two positions require the selected candidate to work independently yet collegially in a team environment. Candidates from a wide variety of fields are encouraged, including applicants with expertise in (but not limited to): cosmological simulations;  galaxy formation models and observations; astro-statistics; gravitational lensing; data mining and machine learning, and theoretical cosmology.

The third position has extra requirments for the selected candidate to use 50% time working on simulations or/and observation preparation for the 2-m optical-NUV Chinese space station telescope (CSST). The primary science objectives of CSST include the nature of  dark energy and dark matter; the evolution and the formation of galaxies; and the detailed mapping of the local universe.

The applicant is supposed to have a PhD in astronomy/astrophysics or a closely related field by the starting date of 1st September 2020. Earlier start dates are also possible. The required documents include a CV, publication list, three letters of recommendation, and a brief statement of research interests. All the documents are to be sent to [email protected] by email with the subject "NAOC/CCG Postdoc Application/Your Name”.
