Job Description

The Division of Physics, Mathematics and Astronomy offers a number of Prize Fellowships at the Postdoctoral Scholar level in Experimental Physics or Astrophysics. These Fellowships are to begin in Fall 2021 and are for a three-year duration. They carry an annual salary comparable to other prestigious fellowships and offer an annual research expense fund.

This fellowship program has been established to offer scientists, typically within a few years after receipt of the Ph.D., the opportunity to pursue new and innovative experimental research, including but not limited to astrophysics/cosmology including gravitational waves, condensed matter, nuclear, high energy, quantum optics, and quantum information. We note in particular the Braginsky/Whitcolm fellowship, dedicated specifically to work in gravitational wave physics. It is expected that this research will require the support and use of facilities of one of the established experimental groups at Caltech. The faculty’s research interests can be found via their web pages. In the case of astrophysics, only candidates whose focus involves instrumentation (i.e. is not purely observational) will be considered.

We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
Caltech is a VEVRAA Federal Contractor.
