The newly established Mega-Science Center (MSC) at the National Astronomical Observatories of China (NAOC), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), is recruiting up to 3 post-doctoral scholars in the fields of pulsar astronomy, star formation, ISM, galaxy evolution, Complex Organic Molecules (COMs), and other fields related to The Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST). FAST, a Chinese mega-science facility, has been dedicated on Sep. 25, 2016. CAS, NAOC, and the MSC are all committed to help commission FAST and to enhance the productivity of its users. We seek candidates of the highest caliber, with emphasis on his/her cognizance of the broad context and forward-looking capabilities. The successful fellows will have opportunities to participate in the commissioning of FAST and drive his/her related science projects. The candidates will be expected to spend ~50% of time with FAST related activities as well as independent research. The candidates will have access to NAOC resources, including JCMT (of which NAOC has about 1/5 share) and ALMA (through China-Chile collaboration and the EAO collaboration).
The annual salary starts from $28,000 up to $45,000, contingent upon the qualification of the applicant and his/her performance. A travel and research grant will also be provided. Top applicants will be recommended to relevant funding programs including the NAOC Fellowship, the EACOA Fellowship, and the grants from the MSC. The initial contract will be for one year, with the possibility of yearly renew and salary increase up to 3 years.
