The Physics and Astronomy Departments at Columbia University invite applications for postdoctoral positions in Theoretical Astrophysics. We particularly encourage applicants with research interests in high-energy astrophysics and compact objects, with expertise in hydrodynamics, plasma physics, radiative processes, or computational astrophysics.
The successful candidates will have a PhD in Physics or Astronomy by the date of the appointment. They will conduct independent and collaborative research within the Columbia high-energy astrophysics group (which includes Professors Andrei Beloborodov, Yuri Levin, Brian Metzger, and Lorenzo Sironi), and will have access to high-performance computational facilities at Columbia University and travel funds. The expected start date for this position is on or around, September 1, 2020. The appointment is initially for one year, with anticipated renewal for up to three years.
