Job Description

The joint research center for Astronomy between Zhejiang University and the Purple Mountain Observatory, CAS, is inviting applicants of all nationality to apply two postdoctoral positions working in galaxy formation or cosmology. The successful applicants will work in Zhejiang University and are expected to collaborate with Prof Xi Kang and his group in both Zhejiang University (Hangzhou city) and Purple Mountain Observatory (Nanjing city). Applicants with experience in hydro-dynamical simulation of galaxy formation, galaxy properties in the cosmic web or local universe, observational cosmology and large-scale structure, are particularly encouraged to apply.

The positions are initially for two years and can be extended to another one or two years depending on performance. The starting date can be negotiable but application submitted before end of March 2020 will receive full consideration. The applicants should hold a PhD degree in astrophysics or related fields. The joint research center for astronomy between Zhejiang University and Purple Mountain Observatory, CAS, is newly established and is seeking for people with innovative ideas, enthusiasm in mentoring students. The applicants will work regularly in Hangzhou, a very beautiful city in China, and are also expected to travel (a few times/per year) between Hangzhou and Nanjing, connected by high-speed train within 1.5 hours.
