USRA is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of massive star formation. The position is available for a period of 2 years. A third year may be offered upon funding availability. The successful applicant will work with Dr. James De Buizer on a SOFIA-funded project investigating the mid-infrared data collected from SOFIA of several of the most active massive star-forming regions of the Galaxy. The successful applicant will use this data in conjunction with archived Spitzer, Herschel, and VLA data to study the stellar cluster populations and their environments in these “mini-starburst” regions.
The successful applicant will have up to 25% of their time available for their own personal research. This position is stationed at the SOFIA Science Center which is situated on the NASA Ames Research Center campus in Moffett Field, CA.
Required Skills
- PhD in Astronomy, Physics or related field
- Experience with multi-wavelength data and the study of massive and/or clustered star formation processes
- Experience with reduction and analysis of infrared data; experience with ground-based mid-infrared, Spitzer, Herschel, and radio interferometric data is a particular advantage
