The department of Steward Observatory seeks to fill a full time position of a Postdoctoral Research Associate.
The successful applicant will take a leading role in observing and instrumentation projects with the Large Binocular Telescope Interferometer (LBTI), including user support. Specific emphasis will be on the maturation, commissioning, and exploitation of the instrument's Fizeau-interferometry mode that provides an effective angular resolution of a 23m aperture and makes the LBT in many respects the first Extremely Large Telescope. Own research projects with emphasize on using the LBTI as well as obtaining funding through grant proposals are strongly encouraged. All of the observational and computational facilities of the Department of Astronomy and Steward Observatory will be available to you on an equal basis with members of our faculty. You will be strongly encouraged to conduct your own research projects with emphasis on using the LBTI as well as obtaining funding through grant proposals.
