A postdoctoral position is available at the University of Cologne in the field of star formation research, through analysis of data obtained in the ALMA large project ALMAGAL. The position will be attached to the group of Prof. Peter Schilke (co-PI of ALMAGAL), and will work closely with the ALMAGAL team.
YOUR TASKS
- You will be expected to work on the data processing and analysis of ALMAGAL and ancillary data sets.
- An important aspect will be the statistical characterization of the structures through the comparison with models provided by various team members
YOUR PROFILE
- Applicants are required to have a PhD in astrophysics or a related field and interferometric data processing and analysis, preferably of ALMA
- Experience with modern methods of spectroscopic and continuum data analysis, particularly statistical methods
- Familiarity with working with simulation data and their comparison with observations
- Good communication skills in an international environment
