Astronomical Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences announces a 2-year postdoctoral position in the project "Accreting black holes in the new era of X-ray polarimetry missions." The postdoc will model the emission of the X-ray corona in Galactic black holes in X-ray binary sources, i.e. study the spectral, timing, and polarimetric properties of the X-ray corona emission. To this aim he/she will use, modify and create numerical codes developed in our group. Thus experience with C++ and Python computer languages is needed. Some experience with astronomical data analysis in X-ray domain (using Xspec or similar software) and knowledge of relativistic astrophysics (especially in the field of accretion theory, radiative processes, ray-tracing in curved space-time) will be appreciated. High motivation and ability to work independently as well as in the team collaboration are expected.
The position is opened for 1 year, after which it can be prolonged for another year based on applicant's successful performance. Commencement is expected on the 1st of October 2021.
