Dr. Matthew Richter at UC Davis is looking for a postdoc to work on high-resolution, thermal infrared spectrscopy. The position will concentrate on laboratory investigation of the performance of germanium immersion gratings and their suitability for a compact infrared instrument. The postdoc will be expected to use and help improve our lab testing setup; analyze the lab data; and investigate science requirements and design for a future instrument featuring Ge immersion gratings. The postdoc will work closely with the EXES PI team led by Dr. Richter that conducts high-resolution spectroscopic observations using EXES on SOFIA. The postdoc is welcome to pursue original research using EXES or other facilities as time and funding permit. The postdoc will be based at NASA Ames in Mountain View, CA. The project is currently funded until 1/31/19; the position may be extended if additional funding is secured.
